About GolfRiTe
We would like to introduce to you GolfRiTe, a company committed to promoting Golf in India and helping today’s generation of young boys and Girls, tomorrow’s prospective champions, take to the game either as hobby or as a profession.
Why Golf: $5.5 million in prize money within one month was the ‘biggest cake’ Indian sport has ever seen and SSP Chowrasia’s victory in one of the two European Tour events in Delhi was the largest icing on that proverbial cake. India hosting three international events in February 2008 was proof that Indian golf has come of age. In 2008 alone, three Indians, Jeev Milkha Singh, Arjun Atwal, and SSP Chowrasia, have won on the European Tour adding to Daniel Chopra’s victory in January on the US PGA Tour.
Such a heavy dose of world class golf in such a short span made youngsters – chiefly their parents – sit up and look at golf in a good light. Some seem to be saying to themselves – gosh; we never knew this lazy looking game can be an excellent career option for our little champ. While other are wondering whether playing this game would become an absolute necessity in a class conscious India in order for their children to succeed in tomorrow’s corporate world. We can say with certainty that both types of above-mentioned parents are right in their judgment.
Golf market has been forecasted to grow at 25% annually for the next 5 years in India as well as China. But does India have enough golf courses or driving ranges to feed this imminent boom? Absolutely Not!!!
Need for Short-Game Academies: There are approximately 180 golf courses in India of which more than 100 are owned by the armed forces. Another 30 to 40 are currently under construction and in the next few years India is expected to add about 10 new courses per year. This means that by the year 2015 we might have 250 golf courses for more than one billion people compared to roughly 16,000 golf courses for 300 million people in America – i.e. one golf course per 18,750 Americans versus one per 40,00,000 Indians.
In real-estate crazy India, it will never be possible to build courses like in the US, which means that more than 90% children in India will never have access to a full-fledged golf course. So, what’s the next best thing? Build Short Game Practice Facilities
The Process….
1. GolfRiTe will build academies (SOX – School of Xcellence) in schools in every town; academies that teach not only the basic but also the most important golf skills to maximum number of children.
2. Academies will generate interest in children to take up the game to find out whether they have the talent and determination to become a world champion. Best way to generate a child’s interest in any activity is to:
a. Inform about all the possible goals s/he can aim for.
b. Provide all the necessary tools to achieve those goals.
c. Challenges him /her appropriately on the way to those goals
3. When golf will be played at such a large scale there are bound to emerge immensely talented champions, who otherwise would never have a chance to find out how good they are.
4. Once these young champions have shown their potential at our local, regional, and national level golf skill competitions the parents can make a decision whether they need to move closer to a full golf course to give their little champion a chance to blossom into an international star.
That is exactly what GolfRiTe intends to do through its academies at schools throughout India - Giving every kid a chance to find out whether they have the potential to become the next Tiger Woods.
5. The academy will help counsel parents to make a decision whether to inspire their child to blossom his/her carrier in this elite sport that has an immense emerging potential.
Besides being the fastest growing sport in India, golf is one of the greatest social networking tools that parents/schools can provide to their kids/students.
